5 Beautiful Places to Visit in Donegal 🇮🇪

There is something incredibly special about Donegal.

Wild coastlines, quiet beaches, dramatic mountains, little villages and roads that seem to lead somewhere beautiful no matter which direction you take.

As we begin our new chapter in Ireland, I'm excited to explore more of this incredible county — and these are five places that deserve a place on your Donegal list.

🌊 1. Malin Head

At the very top of Donegal, you'll find Malin Head, Ireland's most northerly point.

The landscape here is wild and dramatic, with rocky cliffs, sea views and that wonderful feeling of standing at the edge of Ireland.

It's the perfect place for a coastal walk, a little exploring and plenty of photographs.

Don't forget your camera — the views are beautiful. 📸

🏔️ 2. Glenveagh National Park

If you love mountains, lakes and beautiful countryside, Glenveagh National Park is a must.

The park covers an enormous area of Donegal's mountains and valleys and is home to Glenveagh Castle, surrounded by gardens and spectacular scenery.

It's somewhere you could easily spend an entire day exploring.

Pack a picnic, put on your walking shoes and take your time.

🌅 3. Slieve League Cliffs

The Slieve League Cliffs are one of Donegal's most breathtaking sights.

Towering above the Atlantic Ocean, these cliffs offer incredible views across the rugged coastline.

On a clear day, the scenery is absolutely spectacular.

It's one of those places where photographs really don't do it justice.

🏖️ 4. Maghera Beach & Caves

Tucked away near Ardara, Maghera Beach is a beautiful stretch of golden sand backed by dramatic cliffs.

At low tide, you can also explore some of the caves carved into the coastline.

It's peaceful, wild and wonderfully unspoilt.

Just remember to check the tides before visiting.

🌊 5. Murder Hole Beach

Despite its rather dramatic name, Murder Hole Beach is one of Donegal's most beautiful hidden gems.

Located on the Rosguill Peninsula, reaching the beach involves a walk across the countryside, but the views make the journey worthwhile.

It's exactly the sort of place that makes you understand why people fall in love with Donegal.
