It is official! We have sold our house in England and bought our dream home in Ireland.To say this has been an emotional, exciting, and slightly surreal milestone would be a huge understatement. After months of planning, decluttering, and dreaming about coastal views and cosy country life, the wheels are finally in motion for our big UK-to-Donegal relocation.
Where We Are in the Process
While signing the initial paperwork and getting an offer accepted is a massive victory, anyone who has ever moved house knows that the real test of patience happens during conveyancing!
We officially started working through the sale and purchase process at the beginning of July. Right now, we are right in the thick of the legal searches, contract drafts, and conveyancing checks.
In total, we are looking at a 12 to 16-week timeline from the start of July to completion—which puts our target move date somewhere between late autumn and early winter.
Navigating the Waiting Game
Crossing the Irish Sea isn't just a standard house move; it’s an entire lifestyle transition. Right now, our days are a mix of:

Legal & Administrative Logistics: Chasing solicitors, organising survey reports, and keeping the chain moving smoothly.

Packing & Decluttering: Sorting through years of accumulated belongings to decide what makes the journey across to Ireland and what gets donated.

Dreaming & Planning: Designing room layouts, picking out warm interior palettes, and planning garden projects for the new house.
